What is BIOservicES?
Throughout 60 months, BIOservicES, a Horizon Europe-funded project, aims to understand the connection between soil organisms and the delivery of multiple soil ecosystem functions and services at different scales. The project will identify the pressures resulting from different land uses and climate change and deliver new indicators on the impact of soil organisms on ecosystem functions and services.
The ultimate goal of BIOservicES is to develop digital decision-support tools and models to design climate-resilient management practices and programs adapted to a range of environments.
Mission statement
The lack of understanding about the role of soil organisms is hindering their incorporation into monitoring, restoration programs, and investments that seek to improve ecosystem functions and services. Our mission is to generate new knowledge about the functions and services of the soil ecosystem that are associated with soil organisms. We are working towards developing new indicators, tools, and incentives that can help identify and monitor the fundamental soil organisms responsible for delivering ecosystem services in various land uses across Europe.
